female monkey and male snake

I am a female monkey in love w a male snake. We fight about everything. I feel like im about to end our relationship because I feel like he dont wanna put effort and seems selfish. When we aren't together at another attempt to end it, I find myself missing him bad and when we get together again im happy in his arms until the cycle goes on. Can we make it work or is it a waste of time and heartbreak waiting to happen?.
