Hi, I can tell you.

1. You chose a British passport, so it's too late to get a Chinese passport. Chinese doesn't allow dual citizenship.

2. If you wish to get your child a Q visa your wife must make a letter that she wishes to some what adopt him and becoming his primary care taker. You'll have to take the birth certificate and any thing that is in English and get it translated into Chinese. Basically you're giving your baby to your wife for Foster care. It's better if you all did this in Hong Kong. I don't think you can do it within China, because this will be the kids first visa.

Documents should be provided for the Children under the Age of 6

(1) Copy of birth certificate must be supplied

(2) Copy of the information page of both parents passports

(3) Letter of consent signed by both parents

(4) China Visa Centre is unable to assist children who are applying for their first visa and whose parent(s) holds a Chinese passport as they must apply in person for their visa.

And IF I were you and I am doing this now, get a Z visa and work in China and you can put your son on your visa and he'll be fine.

Hi Jackson , thanks for trying to answer it but he has already had a chinese visit visa in his passport and visited chine twice, using his British passport, no problems. Now for some reason the law is being implemented to denounce his possibility of ever wanting to apply for chinese passport.we all live in Dubai so we can not get back to china with him to get this document,,,,,,it's a catch 22, and they have no answers for us.it makes no sense at all. Now they are talking about my wife proving she has no residenc visa for uk which again makes no sense,,,,,it's like they don't even know their own procedures. Regards
