About:China Visa Exemption

Planning on visiting Chengdu and surrounding area with college friend (he is from Chengdu) for 10 days.

Hello.
Do I apply for tourism L?
Where to I get/send forms?
What is the cost?
How long does this take to receive?
Is my friend the "inviter in China" on the application form?
How detailed should the itinerary be on the visa form?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Yes, you need to apply for tourist L. The form can be downloaded from this website or the website of Chinese embassy. For US passport, fee is USD140, and the processing takes 4 working days. Your friend is your inviter and you should also provide an invitation letter from him. About the itinerary, it should be clear about the arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited.
