Why the yellow dragon?

I want to know why the yellow dragon is the most highly revered.What was it's true purpose in being the top dragon?

In Chinese culture, yellow represents a noble color. And dragon is regarded as the totem of Chinese people, so the yellow dragon ranks top and is most revered.
