Best way to carry money and I will stay in Beijig for about three monthes.

I will be staying in Beijing for 3 months and am wondering about money - I don't want to carry loads of cash on me but equally don't want to have to pay hefty bank charges for withdrawing money - has anyone got any advice on the best thing to use? I am from the UK.
