About:Chinese Consulate in Christchurch

I want to know if we need a visa or any transits permits.

My family will travel to Rome in july by china eastern airlines and we will stop in shanghai 17 hs on one way and 6 hs in return way, we want to stay at a hotel because it will be at night and we will travel with kids.
We have italian and argentinian citizenship, and we got the residence here in new zealand.

Hi, you enjoy visa free transit both ways in Shanghai, but you need to apply for a stay permit after arrival at the airport if you plan to stay in a hotel outside of the airport. This permit is free of charge.
