Hello, need help with few questions please,1. How dangerous is the Sparrow Cliff on East peak which leads to the chess pavilion? I read that it is more dangerous than the plank walk but I couldnt find many info and photos of the cliff.2. What is the weather like in mid March? Does it rain a lot or get very foggy/windy? (or even snowing still?)3. We are planning for 1 day trip and want to make the most of it by going as early and returning as late as possible. Current schedule is cable car to North peak - East Peak - South Peak- West Peak and back to North peak for the cable car down. Would that be a good route or can you recommend something else?4. Just to confirm so cable car starts operating on 8AM and closes at 7PM? If we want to see the sunset at West peak, how long does it take to walk down to get the cable car at North Peak? Is 1 hour enough so can we stay until 6PM for the sunset and still catch the latest cable car down?Many thanks in advance for the reply :))

Sparrow Cliff is one of the most dangerous places of the mountain. But it is very safe and not a problem for you to visit it. The weather is fine in mid March but temperature is still low, especially on the mountain. You should take some heavy clothes to keep warm.The hiking route you mentioned is fine. Actually, you do not need to go back to North Peak for cable car down. There is cable car available at West Peak. The cable car starts operating at 7am and closes at 7pm, so you'd better to take the cableway at 6:30pm at the latest. It takes about 15 minutes walking from the viewpoint to the cable car. By the way, if your visit just meets the weekend or holiday, you may have to queue up for a cable car. Hope it helps.

Thank you for the info and West peak cable car idea Linda!One more thing with the sparrow cliff.... I read its about 50m climbing down, so are we hiking down to open space (like the plank walk area) and need to glide sideways to reach the pathway to chess pavilion? or simply just a 50m climb down to a ground area (which is not dangerous I suppose)?

There is an additional charge of CNY30 per person for safety rope when you visit the sparrow cliff. I suggest you rent one due to safety reason. I didn't visit the sparrow cliff, so I am not sure whether there is ground area or not. But the picture shows a pathway leading to the pavillion and most of it are steps. It takes about 10 minutes walking from the cliff to chess pavillion. Sparrow cliff is not the only way which must be passed, but you may experience it on your own if you are interested.
