We are taking a tour of China in May/June, is there a strict dress code?

Can i wear sleeveless tops? Can my husband wear knee length shorts? I have been told that it is offensive to display shoulders or knees.

Donna, it's offensive on some occasions but generally ok in summer time. If you have to present at some very formal occassions, you need bring some formal clothes. Otherwise, it's ok for you to wear summer clothes.
