About:Shanghai Attractions

Hi. I'm visiting Shanghai on the 22nd Aug and am looking for accomodation reccommendations

I'm looking at a low to mid budget (max $150 USD/night) property that is centrally located. Ideally it will be close to restuarants, cafes and transport. If there is some nightlife nearby (pubs, bars, clubs) that'd be great too.

You don't need to provide me with specific hotel referrals but rather which district or area should I look in.

I'm keen to visit the Bund and Huanpu river, yuyan gardne, pedestrian street and the art district (I like to be able to walk where possible but am happy to catch buses, mono-rails, trams, etc. I don't speak any of the local language and will be travelling on my own.

Thanks

Personally, it is recommended to stay at the Huangpu District, espeially near Nanjing Road or the Bund so that it shall be vey convenient to tour, take transporation, and go shopping and dining!

Thanks Lexie.

Quick question. I've read that the more 'touristy' areas are expensive with loads of touts etc. How would this area you've recommended rate on those factors?

Thanks
Sean

Hi, Sean.
Although the touristy areas are expensive with loads of touts, but these places are close to restaurants, scenic spots, transportation and even pubs. As I know, there are many special and beautiful pubs or bars in the Bund area along the Huangpu River.

Since your budget is around 150USD per night (equals to around 900RMB per night), I think you can find some hotels or hostels in the touristy areas within your budget. You may have a try.

If you still think it expensive, you are advised to stay in Hongkou area. Some hotels near Tiantong Road and Daming Road may be suitable. Besides, you can choose to live near the Xujiahui area.
