Travel angencies in Tokyo

I am an Irish passport holder studying in Japan and visiting Shanghai for a weekend, what travel agencies can I apply for Chinese visa and does it take longer/cost more to do this? Why can I not apply directly at the embassy?

Hi, as I remember, there is one aside of Chinese embassy, but I can not recall its name. This is required by Chinese embassy to apply through a travel agency if you reside, work or study there. Temporary visitors can apply in person. If you visit for tourism, you can book flight and hotels through the agency as well then ask for a discount for application.
