About:Visiting Chinese Family

What gifts are appropriate?

I am travelling overseas to visit elderly relative and older cousins. I am meeting relatives over lunch and wondering what might be appropriate gifts to bring? Something from my home country? Also is it courteous for me to pay for the meal as I know sometimes Chinese can cause a fuss over fighting over the bill?

Local specialties, health products (for the aged), cosmetics (for the young females) and electronic products (for males) are good gifts. Your relatives and older cousins will be grateful if you can treat them to a banquet or dinner.
