Hi, you can use your second entry first, then apply for extension at PSB when you are in Beijing. The extension takes 5 working days from the office.

I am afraid there is some misunderstanding (and typos) in my original question. After I use my second entry to enter Beijing, I cannot enter into China again when I take several short trips to Japan from Beijing due to work. My question is how and where can I get multiple entry type, not an extension, in Beijing if this is indeed possible.

If you work legally in PRC, you should have resident permit for employment. With this permit, you can enter and leave PRC as many times as you wish (before it expires). Working legally means that you hold Z type to enter PRC and then change it into a temporary resident permit within one month when you arrive.

I am afraid that you may not apply multiple type in Japan or PRC. Extension is not a choice. And Chinese embassy in Japan don't issue multiple types to those foreigners who stay there. When you fly from PRC to Japan, you can apply for another single entry in Japan.
