best time to tour Ngong Ping 360 in HK

1) Is midday for the cable car ride a good time to arrive on Saturday?--we hear it may be crowded in the morning.

2) f we choose not to take the designated walking tour, are there other places we can walk to enjoy the mountain views before our return by the cable car?
