Do I require to register myself with Indian embassy in Beijing as I am currently working in China?

Yes, you need to register yourself with the Indian Embassy. Following is details I get from the website of Indian embassy.
"Just fill in the Registration Form and fax the same to the Consular Section of the Indian Embassy, Beijing at Fax No: 10 - 8531 2514. The downloadable form in PDF format can also be submitted to the Embassy in person or by post."
