Hi, can I assign my family to submit the application on behalf? Besides, is the hotel reservation is a compulsory document? I am going to stay under my friend's hotel where she depart to China 3 weeks ago.

Yes, you can ask your family to submit your application and collect your passport. If you apply for a L type, return air ticket and hotel reservation are required. Or you can provide an invitation letter from your friend, families or Chinese individual.
