Internship in China

I am going to Shanghai for an internship position for 6-8 months with a very low 'compensation' for my work i.e. not a full salary, am I eligible to do this under the M visa or do I require the Z? (I have a NZ passport).

Hi, as I know, they do not issued visa to internship anymore. You need to fill the application form as business visit, so that you are able apply for a F type with invitation letter from the company.
