Is it possible to camp just anywhere between Xian and Beijing?

Are their specific camping spots? Are their any outdoors and camping stores in Xian?

Gareth, camping in PRC is not a good idea. There are no camping sites like those in your country. I think you should cancel your camping plan for the sake of your safety.

Gareth, I think you might stay at some economical hostels or inns, such as 7 days inn, Home Inn or Motel 168. A room for a night costs 100 to 200 RMB. Or you might search for the Youth Hostel during your trip.
