About:Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen Ferry

ferry to Shekou

When I arrived in HK airport last year I wasnt allowed back into the airport after collecting my hold bags to buy a ferry ticket, Where should I have bought the tickets so that the bags will go directly onto the ferry, thus avoiding the need to go to baggage reclaim? p.s. I am travelling on Qatar from Doha.

You need to buy the ferry ticket and show the baggage tag receipt at the ferry counter at Transfer Area E2. Then you need to scan ferry tickets and check your luggage status at the ferry boarding entrance. Then use the APM system to Skypier.

All the processes are finished in Arrvial Level, T2 and you do not need to go the immigration and custom checks.

Hi Ellen, thanks for the advice.
So have I got this right,
before collecting my hold bags on arrival at HK airport next week, I buy my ferry tickets within the terminal then collect my bags?

No, to catch the ferry after landing, no need to collect (reclaim) your luggage at all, nor to go thrugh the immigration procedures!
The procedure should be like this:
Upon landing, walk to the Arrival Level, T1 to buy ferry ticket and present luggage tag receipt (given by taking the plane) at the Ferry Ticketing Counter at Transit Area E2. After that, scan ferry ticket and check your luggage status at the ferry boarding entrance. Then get on the ferry!

To be honest, I am not very clear about the procedure of the luggage transfering. I was just told that the luggage was already in the ferry when I was at the entrance of the ferry to scan my ferry tickets.
I think the process is similar to the luggage transfering process between different planes.

So basically if I tell the airline at the start of my journey when I check in my bags that I want my bags going to the ferry teminal at HK airport, thats where they should go.

I would answer your last question "so having followed your advice, will someone from the ferry compant bring the luggage from the arrival belt to the ferry". The answer is positive!

When you buy the ferry ticket, just show your luggage tag receipt. They will arrange their staff to pick up your luggage from the arrival belt to transport it to the ferry so that yo can check the status of your luggage when boarding the ferry. No need to get worried at all! Anyway, if you still are a little nervous about that, you may dial 852 2858 3876 to consult in advance!
