You should submit your application to Chinese embassy or consulate in your country. The documents include your passport, completed 2013 application form, a recent passport size photo and invitation letter. If you can't offer the invitation letter, you need to provide the return air ticket and hotel booking in PRC.

If you come to PRC for the first time, you should also provide your financial statement, employment or study proof. The bank statement in recent six months, Bir-stamped income tax return form and Professional ID are ok.
