About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

transit from Pudong to Hongquai.

I have a flight from Japan to Dubai. It transits through Shanghai. I arrive into Pudong but leave out of Hongquai. I understand a bus runs between the two. do I need a visa or can I apply for a 72hr one and if so, how?

You can apply for 72 hr free transit permit in Pudong airport, and it allows you to leave from Hongqiao airport. I am not sure how long will you stay in Shanghai. If it is within 24 hours, nothing should be worried, the permit can be down right upon arrival. If the stopover is longer than 24 hours, you need to inform your airline stuff before taking the plane to Shanghai, so that they will send your details to Pudong airport before landing. The permit will be ready when you arrive.
