About:China Visa Application Requirements

do I have to have had the passport for 6 months in order to apply for a Visa?

My son is going on a school trip to China in May. My sons passport expired 5 years ago and so we are going to apply for a new passport tonight. We then were going to apply but I noticed that they have to have had the passport for at least 6 months? Is that correct?

No, 6 month passport means its validity. His passport should be valid for at least 6 month, let's say, with enough remaining validity left when he submit visa application.
