is the China visa in the old passport still usable? Do I have to apply for a new one?

I have a UK passport with a valid multiple entry one till Sept 2015. Unfortunately I had to apply for a new passport as there are no more blank pages. I now have a new UK passport.

Yes, the old one one your old passport is usable. You need to bring your old and new passports when you enter PRC.
