About:Year of the Dog

Rooster or Dog?

My birthday is January 13, 1982. The in the American Calendar, I'm a Dog but the Chinese Calendar, I'm a Rooster. (Hen for female) I am often confused because I have characteristics of both the Rooster and Dog. Based on my birthday, should I consider myself a Rooster or a Dog?

You are a rooster because Chinese zodiac is based on Chinese lunar calendar.

Sorry Ivan, But Maiva is in fact Born in the year of the Dog! Should you, Maiva, do some more studies on your 13th Jan 1982, you will find that chinese new year more often than not, commences in the last week of Jan thru to the 1st or 2nd week into Feb. I'm a Capricorn Dog, born on the 5th of Jan 1959. this is the final month of Dog year being 1958. I hope my reply clarifies your confusion?

My apologies to both Ivan and MaiVa! You are born in the year of the Rooster! I was getting ahead of myself in my line of thought! Regards, Mark
