Hi, you should apply for the Travel Permits apart from the visa. Since individual foreign travelers are not allowed to visit PRC, so it's difficult for you to acquire that permit. You might join a group tour arranged by qualified tour agencies to visit Lhasa. The agency can help you acquire the travel permit.

Get your Chinese visas before you enter China. Once there, many travel agents will organize a Tbt travel permit. It may take up to a week. They will organize train travel, air travel plus whatever style of tour you require there. You must have a guide. However, currently the minimum size of the group is 1.

Ian from Australia, currently in Lhasa permit

Ian, should I be getting a multi entry visa for China if I want to make a trip to Tibet once I am in China, or is a single entry okay to make a trip to Tibet?
