About:Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Opening hours for Panda breeding center

This page says opening hour is 07:30am but the official wsite of the reserach base site says 08:00am. We plan to arrive there as soon as doors open so my kids can spend as much time as possible viewing the pandas before catching a train out of town after lunch. Our hotel is in downtown so about 30min away I guess so trying to plan out the morning departure from the hotel.

I've checked the official webite of the panda base. It also tells it opens from 07:30. You may misunderstand.

I'll take your word for it since you both have been there before. Wonder why the website says "Opening hours: 08:00am—17:30pm, all year round". Just didn't want to show up 30min too early if they've changed opening hour...

Hi, I am Adele from China. I know where the problem is. In the Chinese version of the official website, it shows the opening hours are from 07:30 to 18:00; however, the English version gives the opening hours from 08:00 to 17:30. Weird!

Adele, thanks for confirming that what I say on the English version of the site is conflicting on the opening time. Can you confirm that it will be 7:30am when we get to Chengdu on April 9th to go see the Pandas?

I went there in Jan. 2012 and the opening time for the base center is at 08:00. But I am not very clear now. '
In my opinion, it is no need to go there so early, because the activity time for pandas are usually from 09:00 to 11:00 and from 14:30 to 16:30. Except that time, you may not easy to see the pandas playing outside. They are lazy and need to rest most of the time.
So if you can reach the center before 09:00, maybe around 08:30, will be perfect.

dora, looks like we'll just be there shortly after 8am to be safe. I heard that bus loads of tourist come by 8:30am and we didn't want to have to deal with the mass crowd with my little kids trying to get a good viewing spot when the pandas are feeding.
