About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Does the transit location count?

So I'm planning on flying from LAX to PVG, then to NRT in a few days. My ticket will transit from LAX -> NRT -> PVG. Since I will be leaving for NRT after my visit to PVG, will this disqualify me? Or is it only final destinations that count for this?

Sorry, if you mean LAX to PVG, then to NRT in a few days, but why you said transit from LAX -> NRT -> PVG. Confused. If it is LAX-NRT via PVG, it is ok for you to apply for 72 hour free transit permit in Shanghai.

It's that my first flight is from LAX, and it has a stop in NRT, then the final destination is PVG. After a few days, I will travel back to NRT and stay for awhile. Then I return back to LAX.

I am afraid you can not avail 72 hour free transit if your first flight has a stopover in NRT. Anyway, you can confirm this with Shanghai airport immigration directly via 0086-21-51105100.
