About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Planning to stay for 5 months, can I get a holiday visa?

My cousin lives in china and can write a letter of recommendation. I stay for 2 and half, go to Hong Kong then come back for another 2 and half on a re entry one?
Cheers!

Then you should apply for a six month L type with double entries. If you haven't been to mainland China, I am afraid that you may not apply for it successfully.

If you get a single entry 30-day L, it can also be extend for one more month within China. So, you can stay 60 days in total. But as I know, you can exit and try to apply for a new L in Hong Kong. After entry with the new L, it can also be extended for one more month. Anyway, this is my advise for reference only, you should better apply for a double entry one.
