Visiting friends in China

Hi. I wondered what is the process for me to obtain a visa to travel to China.
I have a UK passport, however I am living in Saudi Arabia. I would prefer to apply from Saudi if possible.

Yes, you can apply in Saudi Arabia with valid residence permit there. If you visit friends, invitation letter from them is required, as well as copies of inviter's passport and residence permit in China (if foreigners), or copy of Chinese ID. Round-trip ticket and hotel booking are required as well if you will not stay with your friends at their place.
