About:Mount Wutai

Hi, anyone can advise on best way to travel from Datong to Wutaishan and where to stay ?

We also interested to visit the ancient town Pingyao, if time permits.
Planning to stay in Datong for 3 days/2 nights and WTS & Pingyao for 3 nights.
Thanks for any advice.

The direct bus from Datong to the mountain can be consider and the buses are from the DT Long-distance Bus Station. I only know there is one at 07:30 and I suggest you to confirm the time table when you are in DT.
For living, it is suggested to live in the temple on the mountain, so that you can enjoy the temple life.

Do you know if there can be delay on the road from DT to Wutaishan, due to Mining trucks around the area? I was told sometimes they can block the roads or cause traffic jams?

Not sure if there is any temple would like to accommodate us (8 people)...?
do we have to book, any recommendations??

As I know, a new highway has been put into use and the bus fom Datong to Wutaishan uses this way, so the mining trucks won't block the way to cause traffic jams. Don't worry!

I just heard many temples in the mountain provide accommodation for tourists. No need to book. Just go there when you arrive. Relax!
