About:Chunyun - Spring Festival Travel Rush in China

Shanghai- suzhou spring festival

Will it be difficult to get a train ticket from shanghai to suzhou during the spring holidays or is it the long-distance trains that are harder to get tickets to?

It is hard to get tickets during the Spring Festival, espcially for long distance ones. But there are many G trains available between Shanghai and Suzhou, you can try to buy tickets in advance.
