About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

US Citizen Getting Z-Visa in Third Country (Hong Kong)

I am a US citizen and I will be moving to Beijing for work for a couple of years. I was wondering if it is still possible to apply for the Z at the Hong Kong Chinese Embassy, instead of doing it in the home country.

I've heard that it is possible to get the Z in Hong Kong as long as the Z Invitation Letter mentions that the application will be submitted in Hong Kong.

Please advice.

Yes, it is possible. But no one here can guarantee the final issuance. If you are now in US, you are advised to apply for it in advanvce.

Thank you Kris for the help. I was told by my lawyer that if it is a first time application, one cannot apply for a work permit (Z) in Hong Kong unless he/she has a HK Identity Card.
