thanks lori, i am wondering now if it should be a short term visit with a chinese citizen. Although I am going to be on a vacation and touring it will be accompanied and i will not be staying in hotels.Do i need a hand written invitation from that family or will an email from them do ?

Yes, an invitation letter issued by the family or an individual is required, which in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout is acceptable. The letter should contain:

(1) Information on the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth, etc.)

(2) Information on the planned visit (arrival and departure dates, place(s) to be visited, etc.)

(3) Information on the inviting entity or individual (name, contact telephone number, address, official stamp, signature of the legal representative or the inviting individual)
