spring festival crowds at haikou meilan airport

Question

My flight is on Saturday 25 January at 8:30 a.m. on China Southern Airlines. I was planning to arrive at the airport around 7, but I was told today that one of my coworkers missed a flight, partly because of the crowds. Would it be crowded more than usual that early on a Saturday because of Spring Festival?Also, I planned to take a taxi from my apartment to the airport (vicinity of Huahai Lu & Longhua Lu). Would the route to the airport have a lot of traffic if I leave at 6:30 (or earlier!) that day?

You mean your flight will leave HN on Jan 25, in the morning?If so, it may not be so crowded, but leaving one hour and about 30 minutes for checking-in and security may not be enough. It is suggested to leave at least about two hours. The traffic condition is not so bad, but it is still suggested to leave your apartment early.
