Travelling In China. How about the best plan?

Flying from Manchester to Shanghai. I'm looking do do 2 maybe 3 weeks attempting to cover the majority of the tourist destinations in china. What would be the best way to travel around china? Bus? And also? Where would be the best places to stop off at and stay over?
Thanks

Generally, it is best to take trains and buses, which are very convenient in China, for big cities travela and small towns trip. For very long trip, you may have to choose airplane, which usually costs more than trains and buses.

During your trip, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Guilin, Hong Kong and Macau are must-go destinations.
