About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

UK passport from Malaysia into China, do I have to do anything now to get a visa or permit?

I'm a UK passport holder and will be flying to Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights and then to Shnghai for 3 nights which will be less than 72 hours and then back into Manchester. So firstly will I definitely qualify for the free permit? and secondly do I have to do anything before I go or will it be the permit and landing card at Shanghai airport? Can I then go anywhere within the city of Shanghai for those 72 hours? Thank you for any response

Yes, you qualify for the free transit permit if the stopover in Shanghai is less than 72 hours. The permit will be done after arrival at the airport, but you should inform this need to your airline before boarding the plane to Shanghai. With this permit stamped to your passport, you can visit any place within the city if you want.
