Our cruise leaves us in Bali - in order to return to the US we have booked Bali to Shanghai.

We arrive in Shanghai at 9:30 am and depart for Los Angeles at 9:30pm the same day. No plans to leave Shanghai airport. I don't believe we need a Visa, correct?

Yes, you are right. Visa is not required for this short transit.
