F Visa extension for internship?

Dear all, is it possible to extend my F type for another 6 month for doing an intership? I actually obtained it for my study semester in PRC. Or do I have to change to M? If so, would this be possible within PRC or do I have to leave? Thanks very much for your help!

You can ask for an extension from the local entry and exit administration department/bureau in theory. However, I don't know if you will apply for it successfully or not. I think you should visit the bureau/department for details. If they say no, then you might leave PRC and apply for a new F. You don't need to apply for a M type because you just do intership.
