About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I want to apply for a Chinese student visa

hi my brother lives in PRC but his appartment is rented by the company he is working at. I want to apply for X type (6months/1year) in a chinese course at the unversity and obviously share a room at his place for free. as far as i know i need to sign a contract go to foreign student affairs and then to the police station for registration with the introdution form and the landlord.

is it possible? or do i have to rent somewhere else in order to get papers done without problems?

It's ok to stay with your brother as long as you have proper documents. If you apply for a one year X, you should notice that you need to apply for the resident permit within 30 days when you arrive.

Hello Jane thank you for your answer. I already asked at China's University And College Admission System but all the say is that I need a contract and go to the police station with the contract and the landlord. So, my question is, do i need to make a new contract? would you recommend meeting the landlord and signing a new contract with my name in it? they already have one at the name of my brothers company….I am worried because if you do something off the book…problems..

I am sure there are many people who go to PRC to a friends or relatives apartment..please comment your stories. Thanks

If so, you are advised to sign a contract with the landlord and then register in the police station to get a temporary residence certificate.
