invitation letter

I am studying in China and I want my mother to visit me there.As I read the requirements, she should have letter from university in which I am studying right now.I sent her my study certificate letter which my university issued me.It has information about me that I am a student of this university and how long I will stay there.I want to know Is this letter valid for visa application?
