You should apply for a single entry L from the Chinese consulate in your area. If there isn't a Chinese consulate, you should file your application to Chinese embassy. A single entry L costs RS.2300. You should provide your passport, completed 2013 application form, a recent photo used for passport, round-trip air tickets and hotel booking order. If you have an invitation letter, you won't be required for the air tickets and hotel booking.

By the way, I am not sure if you will be asked to provide the financial statement (recent six month bank statement) for your application. If the consular officer asks for it, you should provide it.
