About:Year of the Dragon

Hi! I am just confused if I am a dragon or a rabbit. Can you help me with this please?

My birthday is on January 27, 2000.

I've searched for chinese astrologies and I saw that Dragons were born on the year 2000 so I thought that I am in the year of the dragon. But when I came to this site (and other sites alike), they are always telling me that I'm in the year of the rabbit because the equivalent bday of my bday in Chinese Lunar Calendar is on Dec. 21, 1999 (or something close to that, i already forgot).

This is so confusing! What is 'Chinese Lunar' something and why does these sites tell me my bday (which is Jan. 27, 2000) is on the year of the rabbit while my birth year is 2000 (which is on the year of the dragon)?

I'm not really mad.. I just want these things to be clear...Can you help me guys please?? I would be thankful for a little information :)

Yes, that is true that you were born in the year of rabbit.

Here is my explanation for you: The 12 zodiac signs only exit in the Chinese culture. To predict what your zodiac sign it is, Chinese people usually use Lunar Calendar, which is calculated according to syzygy. Therefore, generally in the early dates, usually Jan. to Feb. of a year, it may be a different zodiac sign from the rest months. That is to say, you cannot be born in the year of dragon, which doesn't make sense in Gregorian calendar.
