About:China Family Reunion Visa

How long can a Q1 visa be renewed for at the PSB?

So If I have a Q1 visa that will expire and I want to continue staying with my Chinese wife in China, then from what I heard is that I can go to the PSB within China and renew it, I don't need to leave China? How long would it be renewed for? say in Shenzhen? 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or another year? Are there any limits for renewing? And after you get a Q1 and I enter the PRC should I go to the PSB and have it turned into a resident permit or something like that? I'm just guessing..

Yes, you can renew it at the local entry and exit administration bureau. Usually, the new one you get is no longer than 1 year but no shorter than 180 days. After you get it successfully, you will be granted with a temporary resident permit. You should provide your passport or other travel documents, valid temporary accommodation Registration form, competed application form, marriage certificate authenticated by Chinese embassy in your own country and bank account that can cover all your expenses during your stay in PRC.

But we are already in China, so I have to go all the way back to the U.S to get my Chinese Marriage book Authenticated? Strange. How much money do we need?, again our money is in my wifes account.

Jones, I think you should visit the local entry and exit administration bureau together with your wife and see what the requirements are. The information I provided above was from Beijing Entry and Exit Administration Bureau. Perhaps, the requirements might be slightly different from place to place.

Hi, Yes we went to the PSB yesterday, the PSB said no need for a Q visa because I already was in China with a visa. They said the Q visa is for people that are entering China. My wife needs to have Y60,000 and our marriage books to get me a 1 year permit. 100,000 for 2 to year permit. This is for Shenzhen. So the Q visa works just like a Z visa in some ways, not for work, but it will get you into the country and get you a resident permit, you're not meant to stay on a Q visa, your meant to get it turned into a resident permit based off your marriage. The good thing is if you leave China to work say in Japan and come back you can get a new Resident permit if your Q visa is still valid.. Again the Q visa is just that, an entry Visa, it isn't anything like the M or L or F visa's. It's a visa to get you and your family a resident permit.
