New passport with visa in my old passport. Can I get back into China?

Hi, I'm a US citizen who's been working in Shanghai for 3 years now. I will leave to the Philippines in 2 days, so I had to get a rushed US passport (good for 7 months) in order to make my flight. Now the problem is that my resident's permit is in my old passport (which has a different number), and I am concerned I may not be able to enter back into Shanghai for work on the 27th.

Can I re-enter into China although my visa is in my old passport? I have a foreign experts certificate as well.

My work seems to think that I should apply for an L typewhile in the Philippines, but when I read the comments above, it seems like that may be hard to achieve. Do you have any advice? I heard regulations are tighter now.

Thanks

I think you can enter PRC with your new and old passport (containing your resident permit). If you are still worried, you may contact the embassy in Philippines to confirm it.

Thanks! I happened to get a rushed type just in case. I heard they have new regulations since September. I read on the Chinese website that you must switch within 10 days.

That is the safest way. But I don't know the new update you wrote here. Perhaps, you can confirm this when you go through the Immigration checkpoint.
