About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Do I need to re-apply for the resident permit in Shenzhen? If required, what is the consequence if I do not apply?

I got my resident permit in Beijing but my work place has now changed to Shenzhen (the same company).

I assume that you have changed an employer, right? If so, you should change your resident permit and work location to Shenzhen. Your new employer should know how to do it. If you don't do it, you might be regarded as working illegally in PRC. The result is that you will be fined or detained for some days.
