register within 24 hours stay in beijing

If i come from Seoul to Beijing(22 hours stay), next day going to Detroit, USA, do i need a register when i stay at family or friends house? Because more than 24 hours through 72 hours only register at the police office excluded hotel and hostel. In this case around 22 hours stay in Beijing at friends house, do i need a register at the police office?

I think you have to register at local PSB together with your friend if you plan to stay at his home for a night. The rule requires that foreigners have to register at local PSB within 24 hours if they stay at a local's home.
