About:Hong Kong MTR

Operating hours of HK MTR or train on new years day

I have to catch a flight at 6am on 1st Jan 2014. Will there be any train services during that hour? And if there are, around what time should I depart in order to arrive at the airport by 4am?

Wow, your flight is so early. The MTR or train in HK generally starts operation around 05:30 to 06:00, so you won't successfully catch your plane by that. Besides of taxi, I suggest you take an overnight bus to HKIA. If you tell me your current location, I can tell you the specific transportation choice.

Thanks for your reply Sunny. I will most probably be departing from either Tsim Sha Tsui or Kowloon. Depending on where would be a better spot to catch the fireworks during the new year countdown Haha.

For New Year firworks, Tsim Sha Tsui is a better choice. From there, I suggest you walk to Haiphong Road, Nathan Road to take bus no. N21 to HKIA directly. It operates from 01:30 to 05:10, so you can surely use that.
