Hi, the tourist L can only be extend once time. Generaly, you will be issued a month only as duration of extension. If you want to stay longer, you have to exit and apply for a new visa.

Yes, but you can have a try to extend your L once from local PSB. Documents required include a proof of hotel reservation, itinerary, and airline tickets etc. But it is not allowed to change L to other types within China.

Yes, it is true according to the regulation since Sept.1st, 2013. You can pay a visit to the PSB for more information for confirmation.

If you get a new L in HK, it can also be extend one time while in China.
But if you can provide an invitation letter from a relevant entity or individual, it is possible for you to get a F or M type if for business, which can be issued with longer duration of stay. If necessary, you can contact a travel agency for more details. What I said above is a reference but the agencies may know the latest information.
