The smog index has reached 468 in shanghai. Is it safe to visit shanghai now in dec.?

I'm here in SH because of work. If I were you I would not come to here in the next few weeks at least. If I had a child with a foreign passport I would take him out of the country for the month. It's really bad here. Some of my colleagues are experiencing headaches and shortness of breath. I'm thinking of taking some sick days so I don't have to experience the smog during the commute to work.
