About:K Trains

I want to travel from Kunming to the Naigu rock forest using public transport. How do I do this?

I have a train schedule. Inconvenient for return.
What direct and time efficient public buses may I take to Shilin? From where in KM and indicative price. Where in Shilin do I catch a bus to Naigu forest?

By bus, it is suggested to go to KM East Bus Station, where there are direct buses to Shilin, Stone Forest Scenic Area. Near the ticketing oofice of Shilin, there are regular buses to Naigu Stone Forest directly.

Thanks Susan from USA. I think I knew some of this although you have clarified the bus situation at Shilin. Looking at all the information it is confusing, some clearly outdated and some of the scheduling appears targeted to maximize returns for car drivers and directing people to stay near the rock forests overnight. Not particularly tourist friendly especially the train schedule and the off the beaten track small bus trips eventually to the rock forest. I assume you have been to the rock forest. How did you find it?

I tried this way: take a train from KM to Shilin. Near Shilin Railway Station, there are buses to Naigu Rock Forest directly and the bus fare is CNY5 only.

Yes, you can take a direct bus from Kunming Eastern Bus Station to Shilin scenic area. Upon arrival, you will easily find many tourism buses between the Shilin and Naigu Shilin (around 8km between), which are in service from 09:00 to 18:00 every day.
