Travelling around China, Money?

Hi,

Me and my mate are going to be travelling for a month around China in August 2014. I'm just curious as to what is the best way of handling money in China because I know that bank fees can be quite costly and I don't know whether I feel comfortable carrying all cash on me. What do people recommend?

Cheers, Gaz

No, the currency exchange fee in banks is not pricey at all. It is definately suggested not to take along a lot of cash to travel around, because there are many thieves, who will keep watching your pockets and handbags.

Just exchange some for use and for more upon arrival at your destination in China. The Bank of China is most reliable in any city by the way.

Hi Gareth, you can withdraw money from the Bank of China. Please be aware that this will attract fees back home so my advice is to always withraw as much money as possible. Upfront it is always a good idea to have some idea of where these branches are located.

All the best with your adventures. You are going to have a really fantastic time.

Cheers, Francine
